Attefall house 30 sqm – the maximum size inside a detailed plan
Inside a detailed plan a permit-free supplementary dwelling may be at most 30.0 m² with a ridge height of at most 4.0 metres. It must also be smaller than the house it complements. Our finished 18 m² house is well below the limit.
Updated

House 6 × 3 m, 18 m², kitchen and toilet. Foundation and connections not included.
When is 30 m² not allowed?
If the main building is smaller than 30 m², the supplementary house may not be as large, because it must be smaller than the building it complements. That is common on older holiday plots with small cottages.
A 30 m² house also takes two thirds of the 45 m² allowance inside a detailed plan. That leaves 15 m² for all other permit-free outbuildings.

Outside a detailed plan
In the countryside without a detailed plan the limits are 50.0 m², a 4.5 m ridge height and an allowance of 65 m². The 4.5-metre boundary distance and the neighbour-consent requirement still apply.
