Attefall house 25 sqm – the old maximum size

For a long time an Attefall house could be at most 25 m², and many people still search for 25 sqm out of habit. That limit has been replaced: today the maximum is 30.0 m² inside a detailed plan and 50.0 m² outside. Our 18 m² house is below both.

How 18 m² compares with 25 m²

Our house is seven square metres smaller than the old maximum. You notice it in that there is no room for a separate bedroom, but the gain is that the house can be transported in one piece and lifted into place by crane on the same day.

Can you put two smaller houses instead of one large one?

The law limits the total building area of permit-free outbuildings on the plot: 45 m² inside a detailed plan, 65 m² outside. Two 18 m² houses make 36 m² and fit within the allowance. A supplementary dwelling may only contain one home, so ask the municipality how they assess several houses on the same plot.

The advantage of a transportable size

A house that can be lifted in one piece needs no frame assembly on site. That cuts the time of building work on the plot to a few hours.
