Insulated friggebod – built complete with kitchen and toilet

Many people looking for a friggebod (a small Swedish garden house) really want a little house to spend time in: insulated, with electricity, kitchen and toilet. That is exactly what we build, at 18 m². Legally it is an outbuilding ("komplementbyggnad"), or a supplementary dwelling if it becomes a self-contained home.

The difference from an ordinary friggebod

Ordinary shed

Uninsulated, without water, built on site from a kit. Good for storage and summer use.

Our house

Insulated, with kitchen and toilet, delivered finished. Usable as a guest room, office or home.

Where can it stand?

The same limits apply as for other outbuildings: place it at least 4.5 metres from the plot boundary or get the neighbour's written consent, and check that it fits within the plot's allowance. Read the friggebod rules after 2025.

Why not a kit?

A kit is cheaper to buy, but takes days of work and someone who knows insulation, electrics and wet rooms. A finished house moves that work to the workshop, where it is done indoors and in dry conditions.
